4321 Miles, 18 States, 1 Saddlesore 1000 – Summer 2009

The next day I headed south back into Charleston and picked up Rt 62 north which parallels the Kanawha river to Point Pleasant where I crossed over the Ohio River into Galliopolis, Ohio. Galliopolis has a magnificent town park along the river front.

The caption on the monument below says “Broken rocker shaft of the steamer John Porter that brought yellow fever to Galliopolis from New Orleans Aug. 18, 1878 causing 66 deaths”.

I continued south on Rt 7 which parallels the Ohio River.
